Marvel Super Hero Island in Universal’s Islands of Adventure is home to a legendary launch roller coaster — The Incredible Hulk Coaster! The iconic green arches of the ride track can be seen from the moment you arrive at Universal Orlando Resort and serve as a beacon to adventurers and Super Hero fans alike.
This roller coaster is a must do for riders that aren’t afraid of fast speeds, twists, inversions, and a little bit of questionable science experiments.

THE STORY
Set in a high-tech lab, you’ve volunteered to take part in a military science experiment run by General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a military official obsessed with creating super-soldiers.
Based on Dr. Bruce Banner’s (The Hulk, when he’s less green) research, you’ll be subjected to high levels of gamma radiation through a process called Hulk-a-fication. The goal of this experiment is to give you and your fellow volunteers incredible strength and super-human abilities.
Ready to get hulk-a-fied? Buckle up because — on this ride — a blast of gamma radiation changes everything.
THE MARQUEE
Just before entering the lab, you’ll pass underneath a massive figure of The Hulk, holding up pieces of the roller coaster’s track. This is the perfect opportunity to grab a photo pre-ride while you are still calm and composed.
FUN FACT: The track pieces held by The Hulk marquee were salvaged from the original incarnation of the ride before a full refurbish in 2016.
THE QUEUE
Your adventure begins in the lab, where gamma-ray testing is underway and various experiments are on full display. You’ll make your way to the Gamma core, a bright energy source that sends pulsing waves of radiation to fuel General Ross’s experiment. Get a good look as this is the force that will be transforming you.
Last stop before your transformation — a viewing area to see other volunteers undergoing Hulk-a-fication!
THE RIDE
You’ll be placed in seated ride-vehicles to transport you through the Gamma Accelerator. Once safely secured in your seat an audible voice will announce, “Initiating Gamma Exposure. Hulk Transformation: Accelerating. Do not be afraid.”, as the accelerator is activated! Before you can quite process the audio message, you will be launched through a tunnel of bright lights and special effects, reaching 40 mph within two seconds from taking off!
And that is quite literally just the beginning. Before returning to the lab, riders will experience a total of seven inversions and two subterranean trenches.
You’ll reach speeds of up to 67 miles per hour as Hulk-like power propels you upside down into a zero-gravity roll, gaining speed as you go.

- Minimum Height 54” (138 cm)
- Universal Express Pass is accepted
- You cannot take your bags on this ride and all pockets must be emptied. There are lockers located at the ride entrance for you to store your gear.
