Universal’s Volcano Bay to Begin Seasonal Closure on November 2

Universal’s Volcano Bay will begin a seasonal closure on November 2, with a current planned reopening timeframe of on or before March 1.  We will use the seasonal closure to conduct annual maintenance on several attractions and areas of the park at the same time.     

We are working with guests who have purchased tickets to visit Volcano Bay during this timeframe as well as Universal Orlando Annual Passholders affected by this update. Why are you closing Volcano Bay?

We are closing for the season to perform annual maintenance on several attractions and areas of the park at the same time.  It’s typical in the industry for water parks to do seasonal closures during winter months for maintenance purposes.    

Is there any activity that is going to be happening at Volcano Bay while it’s closed?

We will conduct annual maintenance on several attractions during the seasonal closure.

Will Volcano Bay have seasonal closures every year?

Our current plan is to only close Volcano Bay for this season so we can perform annual maintenance throughout the park at the same time. Any future updates will be shared on UniversalOrlando.com

How will this affect guests who already purchased a single-day ticket to Volcano Bay for a date when the park will be closed?

Guests who have already purchased a single-day ticket for Volcano Bay will be able to modify the date of their visit by calling (877) 801-9720 or through the Official Universal Orlando Resort App. If they are unable to move their visit, they can receive a refund by calling the number above. Travel Advisors should call 800-224-3838 for assistance.

How will this affect guests who already purchased a 3-park ticket for a date when Volcano Bay will be closed?

Guests who have already purchased a 3-park ticket and planned to visit a day that Volcano Bay will be closed can modify their ticket to a 2-park ticket. They can either visit Guest Services to change their ticket and receive a Universal Orlando gift card for greater than the retail price of the cost to upgrade from 2-parks to 3-parks to use for food, merchandise, etc. during their visit; or they can call (877) 801-9720 to modify their ticket and receive a reimbursement of the difference. Travel Advisors should call 800-224-3838 for assistance. Guests who wish to cancel their visit altogether will receive a refund.

How will this affect guests who have already purchased a 3-park multi-day vacation package for a visit during the park’s closure?

Guests who’ve already booked a 3-park multi-day vacation package to visit when Volcano Bay will be closed can modify their package to a 2-park package, and they will receive a Universal Orlando gift card for greater than the retail price of the Volcano Bay ticket on their package to use for food, merchandise, etc. during their visit. Guests who wish to cancel their vacation package will receive a refund. Guests can call (877) 801-9720 for assistance. Travel Advisors should call 800-224-3838 for assistance.

If I cancel my 3-park vacation package, will I be charged a cancellation fee?

No, we are waiving the cancellation fee for vacation packages affected by the upcoming seasonal closure of Volcano Bay.

How will this affect guests who purchased cabanas, premium seating or Universal Express for a visit during the park’s closure?

Guests will be able to rebook their cabana, premium seating or Universal Express for a day when Volcano Bay reopens at the same price they originally purchased by calling (877) 801-9720. Travel Advisors should call 800-224-3838 for assistance.  If a guest does not wish to rebook for a later date, they can receive a refund.

Can I still purchase Volcano Bay tickets?

Yes, Volcano Bay tickets remain on sale for guests who wish to visit the park before the seasonal closure on November 2, 2020. Tickets are also available for visits beginning March 1, 2021.

Can I still purchase a 3-park ticket or 3-park vacation package during Volcano Bay’s seasonal closure?

Yes, guests can still purchase 3-park tickets and vacation packages for future visits to the destination. However, they will not be able to access Volcano Bay during its seasonal closure from November 2, 2020 through February 28, 2021.

Will 3-park annual passes still be available for purchase during the seasonal closure?

Three-park annual passes will not be available for purchase from October 2, 2020 through February 28, 2021.

When will Volcano Bay reopen?
